If the orange cable is successfully screened on both ends then it dosnt matter if you use shielded or unshielded patch cables on the switch and pc ends. If your cable is shielded cable, then terminate it properly to the keystones in case it acts as an interference conductor and does the opposite of what it was intended. Shielded is totally un-necessary for domestic use in 99.99% of cases If you've got CAT7 then use it rather than buy CAT6a specifically. I've been wiring up the orange cable lengths in the diagram that go between the patch panel and each of my rooms wall plates with S/FTP cable and S/FTP keystones and have bene incorporating the shielding into both ends of the cable as per the instructons of the keystones on both ends. Picked up a 1000ft spool of susplus CAT7 (for £20) and have just started to wire up a comms cab in the loft. However i had a quick question to those in the know as i'm currently wiring up my house. (only mentioning this due to our power plugs carrying earth!) Two (2) UL Recognized thermoset polyester standoff insulators (isolators) sized for ground bar Two (2) heavy stainless steel mounting brackets Four (4) stainless steel bolts (3/8' or 5/8' depending on kit). Power strip > raspberry pi 4 official USB psi > raspberry pi 4 > Motu M4 NuPrime LPS-205 linear power supply incorporated a fully balanced El-frame transformer architecture design that is less susceptibility to core saturation from DC offset. However i could use a charge only usb cable if i find one so that the pi does not see the dac or even take a normal cable and cut the data wires (?)Īny other suggestions with the existing setup? I could not test this solution easily because for some reason when I plug the G6 to the pi it screws the pi configuration and I get no sound and I am not knowledgeable enough to make it work. Would the ground loop dissappear if I power the G6 from the pi the Motu is connected? I know that I can solve the issue using a balance dac to the Motu, but this is not an economical viable solution for me now. if i am confident i can find a solution for the ground loop first Unfortunately i returned the Motu for a different reason unrelated to this but i want to order it again. Why do I think it was a ground loop? Because if I power the G6 with a power bank the noise dissapears Same power strip > random USB charger > sound blasters G6 > line out (unbalanced) > Motu M4 (the signal reaches to the G6 via toslink optical) Power strip > raspberry pi 4 official USB psu > raspberry pi 4 > Motu M4 Is it just normal? If not, will ferrites even help in this case?ĮDIT: I have tried the Radio Shack Ground Loop Isolator and even the Attenuating Cable, nothing seems to help this situation except I never tried ferrites, though I should, I know I have a snap on one I got from a PC item (I forget what it was) I was got rid of.I had what I think was a ground loop with the following setup: I'm kinda lost because I don't know if it's actually electrical, connection between scanner and PC (audio cable) or what. Here is a recording what the interference is I seem to be picking up, that I never seem to hear when I don't record and just listen to the scanner itself. I thought it was interference on my whole house AC lines but my BCT15 does not get it at all. Would I even need a ferrite in this case? Snap-Together Ferrite Choke Core - (Snap-Together) I am wondering if I should just snap ferrites on the plug but how do I choose the type of ferrite? Try to find the ground noise causing equipment by disconnecting it. I have a BR330T (plugged in with stock AC adapter in power strip) which while NOT receiving anything, records a constant noise no matter what computer or sound card it's hooked up to. Connect all of your devices to the same power outlet by using multi-outlet power strips. I have a question about ferrites and even though I researched them on the Internet, I am not sure if they will help in the following situation or if I need something completely different.
